Taureans are practical, dependable, and essentially methodical and down to earth.
Positive traits include strength of purpose, steadfastness, reliability, loyalty, patience and conviction.
Negative traits include jealousy, obstinacy, prejudice, unreasonableness, and a tendency to hedonism.
Taureans will take one step at a time, plodding on with great persistence to their goal. They are loyal and faithful, with a solid character, and can be relied on to do whatever they commit themselves to. However, they can be defensive and suspicious, always prepared to accuse others of trying to take advantage of them, so it is difficult to gain their trust - they never lose their fear of being victimized. They are prone to blind prejudice and lack of reason, and can flash into a bull-like fury when they are angry.
Taureans are practical people. They want a comfortable way of life, surrounded by nice possessions, and with enough money to cope with difficulties. They are materialists, and worry a lot about economic and emotional security - whether they will have enough for a rainy day, and whether they are truly loved and provided for.
They need to feel the support beneath their feet, and nothing unsettles them more than not knowing where they stand. They need to feel in control of situations. Without security, they are tense, anxiety-ridden, and frightened, and can even become insensitive bullies. Security is the key to their existence, and they will do anything to provide that security for themselves and their family. They are essentially family-oriented, and love children and a beautiful home. Until they find this kind of security they are anxious about the future: when will it arrive? How can they further their career? How can they find the right marriage partner?
Once they have found their comfy niche in life, they do not welcome change. They are conservative at heart, and simply want to hang on to what they have got. They are thus unlikely to peer into the future.
Although good with finances, and reliable, they can nevertheless miss opportunities through slow action and needless worry about unimportant things.
Their ambition is to amass wealth and possessions, and this can often go too far - to the exclusion of everything else.
Besides security they need sensuality. Nothing makes them happier than falling in love with a beautiful person, while enjoying startling material success at the same time.
Taureans tend towards a conventional image - they will go for whatever is the done thing in their particular circle, and will rarely step out of line. However they do (like Capricorn) have a liking for pretty things, and often wear striking scarves, ties, cravats etc. But they prefer to dress in a style which rarely alters, though usually smart and attractive, and they spend a lot on clothes to set off their good looks.
They have a great deal of inner vanity, but little pride, and their quietness often hides hostility.
Taurus is a real gourmet, and often a glutton. They never forget hurt, especially if it has touched their vanity, and they never, ever forgive. This resentment slowly boils into the anger of the maddened bull.
They are often short in stature, and their gourmet passions often produce a wider girth.
As Taurus rules the throat, they often have a good singing voice, and a strong inclination towards music.
The Bull is earthy, connected with the fertility of the earth. Taurus is ruled by Venus, which represents sexuality of the bright, open kind. Taureans have coarseness and grace, idealism and earthiness, and an inner conflict which can be compared to fighting the bull.
Their body often rules their brain. They are very physical indeed, and easily seduced by sensuality.
They always have a motive when they are sociable: their friends tend to be chosen for the help they can give in career and worldly ambitions, and a friend no longer needed will be dropped without delay.
Taureans are sex mad, and tend to choose partners who will satisfy their self indulgences. They are steady and faithful in marriage, and are highly supportive of their partner. They are capable of giving love that can be believed in.
Only Taurus can make others feel so secure that, even if they have no religion, they will believe in the hereafter - this is because Taureans do so themselves.
